The flora in Langkawi is influenced by the weather, topography, soil, and various other factors. Hence the diverse habitats, including mangroves, tidal flats, beaches, estuaries, coral reefs, caves, limestones and many more, habouring various life forms. The forest types in Langkawi are divided into permanent forest reserves, recreation forest, mangrove forest, virgin forest, wildlife reserves and water catchment forest. The two main terrestrial habitats that harbour biological diversity in Langkawi can be divided into two dry inland forests and mangrove forests.
