The Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park

The Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park hosts the oldest rock unit in Malaysia known as the Machinchang Formation. The peaks and ridges produced some of the most outstanding and beautiful landscapes of the islands.

Due to the resistance of the rocks against tectonic deformation, the Machinchang peaks often exhibits peculiarly chopped sandstone that is related to Langkawi’s old folk myth of the big brawl between two giants, the Mat Cincang and Mat Raya.
