A total of 40 teachers and high school students gathered around Langkawi Geopark Camp program organized by the Geopark, Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) located at the Skull Sand Beach, Langkawi. This program is a pilot program of awareness campaigns Langkawi Geopark is one of the Geopark Division LADA in an effort to create awareness about the Langkawi Geopark to the community. Recognising the importance of knowledge about the Geopark to the generation of future leaders, this awareness campaign has been focused on the students began in 2010 again. Since then, various programs were organized, including the 'Geopark to School' and 'School to Geopark'.
In addition, several modules for a more systematic awareness campaign was also planned and designed. Camp Geopark awareness of this module is an extension of the program is a series of discussions between the LADA with the UKM, UPM, FRIM and the Institute of Biodiversity, Lanchang Pahang (IBD). A total of eight special modules for students prepared for the concept of 3 days 2 nights camp began on March 25 until March 27, 2011. The main objective of this program is to create awareness and understanding to the students and teachers about the Langkawi Geopark.
Participate in the program is the Assistant General Manager Geopark Division LADA, Hapiz Bin Haji Abd. Manap and several representatives from SMEs who are professors and lecturers. Hapiz said he believes this program will not only enhance their knowledge to the participants but also able to build 'common values' in themselves on the importance of heritage conservation and sustainable development.
